With the unprecedented lock-down in place, educational institutes across the country are closed. And they will remain closed until it’s safe to reopen.

In such circumstances, schools and colleges are doing their best to ensure that the students don’t miss out on any learning and are imparting education remotely.

To help Government schools in this regard, we at Technogise leveraged an open-source application and created a pilot e-learning platform, Gyansadan. It is now live for students in some Government schools in West Bengal.

Gyansadan was built within 2 weeks and can be easily scaled up to onboard multiple schools in quick time.

We thank Mr. Dibyendu Bagchi, Headmaster of Durganagar Bipin Bihari Vidyapith, Chakdaha, Nadia who came up with this idea and Mr. Abdus Mondal for connecting us, for such a noble cause. Since this idea will help so many students across different schools to learn and engage with their teachers, we did it as a pro-bono activity.

The platform helps the teachers to not only upload learning content, but also add assessments for every chapter. Students can login on the mobile app, learn from the courses and take assessments. They also have the option to ask doubts, contribute in discussions and help each other.

Going live

We are grateful to Mr. Bagchi, who is leading this initiative and getting more and more schools to benefit from the platform. Government schools from Nadia, Birbhum and South 24 Parganas have benefited so far from the platform.

Initial response

The response for the app has been good so far with teachers and students appreciating the virtual classroom as well as the ease of giving & taking assessments. The adoption rate for this app has also been quick.

Future plans

As of now the platform supports students of Class 9 and 10. In the next couple of weeks, once the content is ready, the platform will be rolled out to students of other classes as well.

In the next 3 months, we plan to onboard 50 more Government schools across West Bengal. Depending on the feedback, success and the adoption rate, we might take it to more schools across the country.

If you know any school which can benefit from this platform please ask them to register on Gyansadan website. If have any suggestions / feedback, please connect with us at elearning@technogise.com
