Client

The client is an eCommerce organisation established across 11 countries in Southeast Asia.

Problem Statement

Client wanted to relaunch their e-commerce website and expand to newer markets but the reverse logistics was managed using Excel files and underlying Legacy systems, which were inefficient and inconsistent to support all returns. There was a need to automate, support and track multiple Return cases.

Challenges

Very strict timelines for launch, as the Return Management System had go live along with the client's new e-commerce website.

Understanding the existing manual return processes and design the new system to cover all return cases which were manually managed by warehouse operators.

Developing a scalable system to manage large volume of returns - around 1000 returns per day.

Remote collaboration with client's technology teams to integrate with their existing platform.

Ensuring smooth "Go Live" simultaneously in 6 countries in First release.

The Outcome

We built Return Management System from scratch, adopting the MVP approach for quick release, which enabled client's new ecommerce site to go to market in record time.

Our team travelled to client location to understand and collaborate with the stakeholders. Daily calls and continuous collboration helped us deliver efficiently.

To meet the shorter Go Live timeline, we developed a single page responsive application using ReactJS, BackboneJS, Lumen and PostgreSQL.

We made the application multilingual and launched it simultaneously across multiple countries.

Simple and intuitive UI helped faster adoption of the application by warehouse operators.

Data analytics dashboard for relevant users gave detailed insights to keep a tab on returns volume and warehouse processing timelines. This helped identify bottlenecks in operational processes.

Our modularised deployment approach helped ease deployments and enabled deploying specifc features in specific countries, when required.

We collaborated with local warehouse teams in different countries and remotely supported them with any application related queries or production issues.

Lazada is a high growth business with aggressive targets. We grew our operations from 5 to 11 countries, delivering millions of orders each day. We needed a technology partner to work alongside our teams, building scalable solutions. The partner had to internalise our business context, requirements and priorities. Technogise was able to meet these expectations well and more. Their teams always delivered and with high quality. Unlike conventional vendors, the Technogise team proactively came up with ideas and saw them through implementation. In this sense, they've truly been our technology partners.
